ABCC 2022/23 - We need you!

As we reach the conclusion of the 2022 season it feels like an opportune moment to reach out to the full Club to bring us together, share some updates and ask for your help.

This year has seen us change, adapt and thrive in many ways. Coaching undertook a huge overhaul at every level. Through hard work, perseverance and passion, we have new structures in place to continue to grow our own coaches, who will continue to develop talent through the Club at every level. Similarly our grounds have offered pitches and outfields that match our fine Clubhouses – both the Bank and Hanbury have seen back to back 500+ run matches throughout the season.

We are a Club with an inclusive outlook, a strong reputation for playing competitive & fair-minded cricket, within the true spirit of the game. We are rightly proud of how we do things. All of this is testament to the many volunteers, supporters and members who contribute to our shared success every week.

While we have a reputation for taking on ambitious projects, sadly we are not immune to the cost pressures that are touching every part of life. At present we have an exceedingly tight budget, and it is nevermore critical that we manage the Club carefully to deliver the best playing and social experience for our members and supporters. As we head into the winter, we all have a part to play here. We need to consistently raise funds, and in the current environment every single activity matters.

A key part of our ongoing renewal process is to steadily bring new people into new roles to keep our thinking fresh. It is really important that we access the full talents of the brilliant people who make up our Club. We are looking for supporters, parents, members, players from all parts of the Club to take on roles including; Junior Chair, Club Chair, Secretary and Fundraising.

You will not be expected to land ‘fully formed’ and will be supported in getting to grips with what’s required. In the main enthusiasm, energy and a passion to support the Club in being a success is all that you need bring. Please don’t hover on the boundary rope, if you feel you might have a bigger or different contribution to make please do be in touch. Don’t rule yourself out, please come and have a chat, we’d love to have you involved in whatever way we can make work together.

Looking ahead, we have Cricket Force (1st October) coming up and Bonfire Night (5th November) on the immediate horizon. We need your help for both. Bonfire Night is a whole village event, and makes a critical contribution to club funds. Last year was exceptional, and we’d love to see it repeated. Spread the word, come along, shake a bucket and enjoy the show. We also have the AGM coming up where we hope to elect some of the appointments mentioned above as well as confirm choices for Team captains. Members, Players and Parents please make the time to attend – we need your involvement and value your opinions.

Beyond this we’ll be in touch to shout up the other activities where you can help, take part, and support the Club throughout the closed season. But if we get it right, we will be well set for a vibrant, involved and successful 2023.
