Astwood Bank Cricket Club Ground and Facilities Executive
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Cricket Groundsman to join a thriving cricket club in Worcestershire, where you will play a leading role in the maintenance of the club’s cricket grounds(Astwood Bank and Hanbury) and associated buildings and facilities.
You will have the opportunity to develop your career further in grounds keeping, helping to maintain the grounds, operating machinery and taking care of equipment and the facilities.
Your remit will include:
• Playing a prominent role as the Cricket Groundsman and facilities.
• Working closely with the Director of Cricket, Head of Ground and Facilities and committee
• Effective management of all grounds activities to consistently achieve the recognized standards and availability to satisfy both the Club and its end users (e.g. coaches, players etc).
• Working in close cooperation with the main cricket club committee
• Extensive involvement in cricket surface provision and management;
• Monitoring and registration of all maintenance schedules.
• Wide use of machinery in the maintenance and renovation of grassed areas - use of ride-on and pedestrian mowers, rollers, turf cutters, edgers and scarification equipment.
• Be physically fit enough to deal with the manual and physical demands of the job such as the manual handling of deliveries such as bags of material of various weights.
• Direct responsibility for two grass squares(Astwood Bank and Hanbury), outfield areas, associated facilities, and landscaped areas, including multiple natural playing surfaces (on outfields).
• Cleaning and maintenance of the two clubhouses, including weekly cleaning of clubhouse and facilities to ensure good cleanliness and tidiness.
• 30hrs per week, Vary according to need and impact from weather and other external factors
o March – End Sept - Standard working week Mon – Fri (9am – 4pm – inc 1 hour break)
• 10hrs per week. (flexible when delivered)
o Mid Sept – Feb
• Covers when required and always end of week (Friday)
• Receive and check bar deliveries at Astwood Bank ground (max twice weekly)
• Ad hoc duties, as and when required.
• Please note – there could be occasional weekend morning work, if weather impacts standard working week
• Collection of fuels and other material, when required.
PLEASE NOTE: you MUST have own transport to travel between 2 grounds (Astwood Bank and Hanbury) - £10 fuel allowance per week paid.
Our cricket club has five senior sides, Ladies teams and a strong and growing junior section,with multiple teams playing over 130 matches a season on two squares. The successful candidate will have experience working as a cricket groundsman or equivalent. They will also possess significant knowledge and experience of cricket surface provision and management. The ability to remain calm in a busy and demanding environment, excellent communication skills, and a flexible attitude to working hours are all essential.

Contract length: 24 months
• Full-time hours: 30 per week (March – Sept)
• Part time hours: 10 per week (Oct – Feb)
Salary (paid monthly and based on forecasted hours):
• March – Sept = Competitive, based on experience and confirmed on application
• Oct – Feb = Equivalent to same hourly rate as March to Sept
Additional bonus pay:
• Bonus scheme (paid 6 monthly – Apr and Oct) based on feedback from captain, managers and committee
Potential for additional bar work, for right candidate if interested.
