Harvey Lewis interview

🦚Junior presentation night is on Friday at 6pm and to celebrate the graduation of our three u15’s their team manager (and absolute legend) Claire Davies has interviewed them about their time as an Astwood Bank junior. First up is Harvey Lewis.

‘Astwood Bank has three amazing young cricketers who are leaving the juniors this year. They have played their fixtures tremendously well. Despite being a squad of three this year, this has not deterred them in anyway: they have kept focused and are a true credit not only to the club, their parents but most importantly, themselves.

The lads share some of their experiences and thoughts over the last seven years.’

Interview with Harvey Lewis

Q. So Harvey, tell me a little bit about yourself?

🏏I am 15 years of age, I attend Saint Augustine high School, I have a good friendship group which I socialize with in my spare time.

I enjoy school and play some sports for the school and attend clubs with them, but covid had stopped this for a while.

Q. When did you start coming to Astwood Bank, and what made you want to play cricket?

🏏I started cricket when I was 8 years old and used to attend the Friday night training.

I used to play football before I discovered I enjoyed cricket more.

Q. Who was the first team manager you can remember, and why?

🏏Jonathan Summers was my first team manager and I remember him for the support he gave me throughout his time as my manager.

Q. What is one of your earliest memories of coming to the Bank?

🏏When I started the Friday night training at the age of 8 and having a burger afterwards!

Q. Can you remember one of the most memorable occasions at the Bank, and if so, what was it?

🏏It was recently getting 5 wickets in 6 overs playing for the 4th Team.

Q. Can you remember a fixture that has stuck out in your mind, and why?

🏏Again, it is recently playing Barnt Green, it was a very close match and was exciting that we only needed 6 runs with 2 balls, we did not win but it was tense.

Q. What has been one of the most memorable occasions of all the fixtures that you have played, and why?

🏏Playing for the 4th team and getting 5 wickets and getting to keep the match ball.

Q. Can you remember a funny moment at the Bank?

🏏When Harry Cooke, was very vocal about the umpiring decisions, and he said “new sponsors Specsavers”!

Q. What advice would you give to a young person who is considering joining Astwood Bank juniors?

🏏That it is a very friendly club that helps you progress through the teams with fun.

Q. If you could sum up your experiences of your time, in the juniors at Astwood bank, in two words only, what would those two words be?

🏏Great experience!

🦚I would like to thank everybody for their time as it is down to them the club still runs.

Harvey - You are a credit to yourself, I’m immensely proud of how you’ve battled through some difficult times over the past few years and have turned into a fine cricketer. It hasn’t always been easy but effort brings rewards - Well done young man 👍
