After an unforeseen migraine related delay for this particular volunteer earlier in the season, it’s time to finally finish off our celebration of Volunteers week.
On Day 5 we hear from Maddie and Benjamin , two of our seven junior members that signed up for this season’s Volunteens scheme. This scheme rewards teenagers for the hours that they spend over the summer coaching, umpiring, scoring and helping out around the club.
They haven’t finished just yet but they have already contributed well over 200 hours of their time to help other members at the club. An amazing achievement and ABCC are lucky to have such a great bunch of young role models.
Name - Maddie Windeatt
Age - 14
Years associated with the club - 4 years.
Why they are associated with the club - joined due to an excellent junior section and celebrated ladies section, with aspirations of playing with Clare Boycott and Jess Humby.
How many hours a week do they dedicate to the club - 2hrs every week supporting coaching of the u11 girls and playing 3-4 times a week.
What is their role at ABCC? - U15s girls captain, boys age group player and ladies 1st team.
What do they like about being a volunteer at ABCC? I get to see the u11 girls develop as players.
If more people at ABCC became involved as volunteers how would that help the club? Would allow more drills and specialised training.

Age 14
Under 14s and 4th team player
I like passing on some of my skills to the younger players and have pride in seeing them progress and enjoy their cricket.
If more people volunteered it would mean we were able to have more stations and therefore be able to teach more skills to more players.
