Volunteers week day 7- Amy Killick

The grand finale for Volunteers Week sees us return to the Girls section of the club, but at the youngest age group this time. Amy is a great example of one of the most important types of volunteers we have at ABCC- a parent that goes on their own cricketing journey alongside their children, learning the skills they need to be able to help their own children and their peers to flourish.

'Name and some background details:

Amy, 31 (ahhh!!). Been associated with ABCC for 4 years when Oliver and Esmee joined. Oliver joined first and then the wonderful Martin roped Esmee into playing (her first training she was wearing a dress and sandals and not really the part!) and we’ve not looked backed since.

What is your role at ABCC?

Started off supporting with the all stars/ dynamos last year and this year have become the girls u9s manager. I have completed my level 1 in coaching and I am now a safeguarding officer too. Before my children joined I didn’t know the slightest thing about cricket and despite my child telling me I cannot bowl, I have definitely learnt a thing or two.

What do you like about being a volunteer at ABCC?

I love the social side of ABCC and being able to contribute to a club that has supported my children so much.

If more people at ABCC became involved as volunteers how would that help the club?

It would mean I wouldn’t be stressing about having an umpire and a scorer for the girls games!! Holly and David were my saving grace over the weekend!!'

Parents doing either of these online courses would be a big help to our volunteers like Amy.

That's a wrap for Volunteers Week 2023. I hope you have enjoyed reading all about just a few of the many volunteers at ABCC this week. I'm sure we will be back again next year to hear from another 7 super troopers. Maybe someone new will volunteer to do this, who knows what the future holds.

If you would like to help out or get more involved then please get in contact with your captain, team manager, member of the committee or you can even send the club a direct message in various ways now.

There is always something going on at The Bank behind the scenes. Today alone we have had Paul painting poles, Nomads seeking over 50's superstars, Woody canvassing for coaching cover, Ben arranging All Stars and an offer from Natasha about netting. Keep up the good work Bankers!
