Winter update for ABCC junior section.

ABCC Junior Cricket End of Season Update – it’s going to be a long winter, here is how we will try to help to keep you all busy, active and having fun.

· Firstly, thank you all for an amazing few months of cricket in difficult circumstances this summer. From the 2 year old’s starting out at Diddy Bankers all the way up to the teenagers making their senior debuts this summer, well done one and all.

· Congratulations to all the winners at the emergency last minute presentation night.

· The nets are still open to members wishing to practice. Please book a lane on the website beforehand or sign in with the track and trace option on the app. Current guidelines mean the maximum group size is 6, please stay 2 metres apart from people outside your household and wash your hands regularly.

· We have entered teams at u9, u11, u13 for girls and u11, u13, u15 for boys in the WCCC indoor league. Your team managers will be in touch with more details when we have them.

· Several of our young players have been attending county trials recently. Good luck to them all and we know you will represent the Bank with skill and pride as always.

· We are putting together a winter entertainment calendar to keep everyone connected, albeit remotely, over the winter. The first event will be a Halloween costume challenge on Saturday 31st October. Check out our Facebook page for more details.

· For our teenage members we have the Volunteen’s scheme to get involved with. This rewards them for all their time spent scoring, umpiring, coaching and on groundsman duties.

· We haven’t forgotten about you parents too. We are always looking for new people to join our team of coaches, team managers, umpires and scorers. If you would like to get more involved in your child’s cricketing education then please contact us at a.g.alexander@hotmail.co.uk. We can offer full training in coaching, first aid and safeguarding to make you a fully qualified cricket coach in time for next season.

· There is currently a vacancy for an under 8’s team manager next season (current year 3) so let us know if you would like to be involved as this age group starts to join our Friday night training sessions and play some matches and festivals in 2021.

· If any parents are missing the cricket club and want some exercise over the winter then why not join Bank batsman Tom Underhill for his Saturday morning bodyweight bootcamp at ABCC. https://www.ausported.com/bookings-checkout/bodyweight-bootcamp/book .

· The projects to improve facilities at Astwood Bank and Hanbury are slated to go ahead over the winter so keep your eyes peeled for details of how you can get involved.

· There are 270 members on the Wix app and over 1000 people following the club on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so if you have an idea that you think will bring some happiness to our extended cricket family over the winter then let us know.
